We are able to pick the client up from their home.

Assessment and tuition is conducted on their local roads by Brian Burns. A written report for DVLA and doctors can be provided if necessary.

Brian Burns, the owner of Bewick Mobility is also our Qualified Driving Assessor. He has over 25 years experience of teaching and assessing people with special needs and giving technical advice on all aspects of mobility and staying mobile. Brian worked for 10 years within the NHS Trust as a driving assessor, which involved extensive NHS training giving him a unique medical knowledge and insight. With this knowledge, Brian is able to advise on suitable adaptations with the customers future needs in mind.

The following adaptations are currently fitted to our dual controlled vehicles.

Suzuki Vitara:

  • Tall seating position – for easy access/egress from standing

  • Elap wireless system – remote use of ancillaries, indicators, wipers etc
  • VOR wireless system – remote use of ancillaries
  • Quick Release raised floor & extended pedals (for drivers with restricted growth)
  • Easy release hand brake

  • Elap 90 degree swivel seat – drivers side – to assist transfer from wheelchair
  • Autochair Milford Person Hoist – passenger side

We also have a range of seating and postural cushions in our tuition vehicles. We are based just outside of Newcastle and cover a wide area from Berwick upon Tweed down to Teeside, East coast to West Coast and South West Scotland.
