Bewick Mobility
Bewick Mobility, a family run business, started over 21 years ago as a specialist driving school. Assessing and teaching in adapted vehicles. Bewick fitted their first set of Bekker hand controls and left foot accelerator in 1991 and has since grown into the North Easts leading vehicle adaptation and barrier free living specialists.

Brian Burns ADI
Brian, the owner of Bewick Mobility is our Driving Assessor and is a qualified DSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). He has over 30 years experience (qualified 1981) of teaching and assessing people with special needs and giving technical advice on all aspects of mobility and staying mobile. Brian worked for 10 years within the NHS Trust as a Driving Assessor, which involved extensive NHS training giving him a unique medical knowledge and insight. With this knowledge, Brian is able to advise on suitable adaptations with the customers future needs in mind.
He has also had extensive training with our hand control and boot hoist manufacturers, and also Bierman in Holland for converting our lowered floor wheelchair accessible vehicles. |

Kevin Irving
Kevin studied a BSc (Hons) Business Information Technology at Northumbria University before joining the team at Bewick Mobility.
Kevin
is the Sales and Marketing Manager, and takes care of the day-to-day operations from the showroom in Prudhoe.
He also controls the website and databases.
He manages the Motability Adaptations, Wheelchair Accessible Conversion and Powerchair and scooter schemes and is the Mobility Scooter and wheelchair specialist.
As part of our Motability Accreditation, Kevin has had Disability Awareness training. |

John Thompson
John had his own auto-electrical business before joining us. He has been working with Bewick Mobility since 1991.
John fits all vehicle adaptations, but specialises in wireless secondary controls
and switch gear modifications using his skills in auto-electrics.
His background is also useful in servicing and repairing mobility scooter and electric wheelchairs.
He has had extensive training with our hand control and boot hoist manufacturers, and also Bierman in Holland for converting our lowered floor wheelchair accessible vehicles. |

Brian is a time-served Engineer and is our Mechanical Fitter. He fits most vehicle adaptations and his skills in welding and fabrication come in useful for that special one-off job.
He has had extensive training with our hand control and boot hoist manufacturers, and also Bierman in Holland for converting our lowered floor wheelchair accessible vehicles.

Alison Burns
Alison is married to Brian, and is the backbone of Bewick Mobility.
She deals with the running of the accounts and can be found helping out in the showroom with living aid sales on a Tuesday and Thursday. |

Mark Durber
Mark fits most adaptations and specialises in windscreen replacement, body glass, window tinting and interior vehicle trimming.
Mark has had extensive training for installing boot hoists, hand controls and converting our lowered floor wheelchair accessible vehicles |

Matthew Burns
Matthew is currently at Teeside University studying Industrial & Automotive Design.
Matthew works part-time as an extra pair of hands, and gets involved with most areas of the business. |

David Burns
David is currently studying A-levels and is in his final year.
David works part-time as an extra pair of hands. His jobs include polishing scooters and tidying the office and showroom. David also helps with the accounts.

Ben Hedworth
Ben fits most adaptations and has had training for installing boot hoists, left foot accelerators and hand controls.
Ben joined us in summer 2011 after completing a 3 year Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair at Newcastle College. He is currently studying towards a NVQ Level 2 Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair with Northumberland College

Michael Sargeant
Michael joined us in summer 2011 and gets involved in most areas of the business.
Michael completed a BTEC in Engineering and A-levels in Maths, IT and Sociology. |

He specialised in teaching drivers with specialist needs in 2006, and completed the Queen Elizabeth Foundation Award for teaching people with special needs in 2008.
His dual controlled vehicle is fully adapted with hand controls, left foot accelerator etc. Ron covers the Northumberland area. |

Marie Tomlinson ADI
Marie has been a qualified DSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) since 2000, where she specialised in teaching drivers with specialist needs. Marie completed the Queen Elizabeth Foundation Award for teaching people with special needs in 2000.
Maries dual controlled vehicle is fully adapted with hand controls, steering aids, wireless controls andleft foot accelerator. Marie covers the Cumbria area. |

Neil has been a qualified DSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) since 2002.
He specialised in teaching drivers with specialist needs and completed the Queen Queen Elizabeth Foundation Award in 2004.
Neils dual controlled vehicle is fully adapted with hand controls, steering aids, wireless controls and left foot accelerator. Neil covers the Teeside area. |
